The Airborne Car

The idea of an airborne car is an interesting one, and the thousands of ways to make one are interesting as well. I’ll explain about three or more ideas i know of. A quick one is the average cartoon version with the little rings of smoke or something coming out the back with a round shape like half of a tennis ball. This version has absolutely no way to provide upward thrust or any way to to move forward, in cartoons they just move. Naturally, this is completelyridiculous. Well, that was quick, now for the other three they are the magnet, the open flame (my favorite) and the air draft. I’ll start with the magnet. This idea states that because magnets can provide enough opposing forces to lift each other into the air couldn’t you make really powerful magnets, mount them on the bottom of cars and make roads of magnets? Then, when you would drive, you would float and reduce friction letting you travel faster! The only problem is how to move forward. You could simply put fans at the back and slowly, Imean really really slowly, accelerate. this could work, but there would be no way to brake. The other propulsion system would be, of course, more magnets! Since there would be minimal friction one small push from a magnet now and then would propel you almost forever! and for stopping, mount another magnet on the front of the car and at stops, have a powerful magnet that slowly stops the car. Then have another powerful one come up from behind to start again! This method is great but impractical. Why would the government pave HUGE roads of magnets? So this theory will probably never come around. Darn. Well no use crying over spilled milk. So now on to my next theory, the open flame! Just basically a huge flame duct coming from out of the bottom of a hunk of molybdenum, heat resistant metal, with small panels on the sides for direction. This could be controlled with a bunch of pedals and/or levers. for height you could restrict the flame from the bottom, to lower, or open it wider, to go higher. The panels would let out small jets of flame to provide propulsion left, right, forward or backward. however, since you would travel mostly forward, the back panel would be more like a smaller opening that can open wider or smaller to increase or decrease speed. One of the many problems with this model is that duh! OPEN FLAME! Major burns. So this is dangerous. Without further ado, I will introduce the most popular type! the air draft! It is the idea to do the open flame only with air. That’s it. It will probably be what you see when flying cars are commercially sold. I’m still all for the open flame.
