Antivirus Performance Comparison

Data da Publicação Evandro em 27 de maio de 2023

The virus can do anything from the theft of your hard disk space to accessing your private data and draining your CPU. There are many anti-virus programs available to guard your gadgets from these problems. The most important thing is to select one that has a minimal impact on system performance. This is a crucial aspect that all of our antivirus programs are tested against. The results below are basing them on the length of time it takes each program to complete an operation. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free, for instance had a background effect of only 6% when scanning the entire system, while ESET had an impact of 12 percent.

Avira is a German-based company. Avira is well-known in our tests and consistently scores above 90% in all three categories – Security, Performance and Usability (False Positives). Its user interface offers a wide range of functionality and features, including a sophisticated “firewall” and a variety of privacy tools. Avira’s subscriptions are priced on a monthly basis, rather than a fixed 1-3 year period, which makes it simpler to cancel or alter the subscription at any time, without having to worry about second-year renewal price shocks.

A fairly new name in our tests, Essentware – which was previously known as PCKeeper utilizes the Avira engine underneath and generally scores well across the all the tests. Its interface is easy to use and its performance was decent in the month of March, however some stability issues – mostly related to scan jobs not being able to connect – reduced the score. The detection was satisfactory and a flawless run of the certification sets earned VB100.
